Slow Connection with VPN, use Proxy?
Im using Vpn to watch movies on the internet ...

I found a way to do it,
connect to vpn , start movie and then disconnect the vpn while loading the video , it will be using my real internet and its fast .. but when i have to switch to other movie( changing page in the website) i get the block because i dont have vpn ..
so my question is : Will the proxy be using my real internet speed

View related: Extreme Slow VPN2012-04-17 07:45:22My VPN connection is very slow, slow to the point that Word takes 50sec to open 20k doc and 80sec to save it. Sometimes Word would get stuck in None Responsive mode. Windows XP is the vpn Server, and the client is Windows 7. Copying file speed is about 10-20k per second.
I have try login with another Windows 7 computer and it is very slow also.
However when I try login with a Windows XP computer, everything is much faster.
This lead me to conclude that there are some incompatibility between the 2 OS. Any one have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem?...
Can i turn My home PC into a proxy? (dont tell me to use free proxy sites)2012-02-07 22:05:22worked on this via google, and youtube for about 2 hours today, and im stumped.
I need to turn my home PC into a proxy server to where i can plug an IP and port into software i use at work so the software can send 'talk' to things from an ip other than our office IP
Free proxies are sketchy, slow, and un reliable if i was 16 and just wanted to get the latest tweets and myspace action id use some free proxy but thats not what i want i dont care how 'legit' your proxy list is
ive purchased 20+ 'private proxys' and they all use reused IP addresses that are already blocked or coming from a known proxy farms and wont work for my purpose,
so if anyone knows how to use my home pc exactly like a 'free proxy' than please let me know, i can install linux or windows server, whatever the need be, i just need pointed in he right direction....
What are some of the fastest VPN providers?2012-05-02 16:30:32Go. Don't mention the VPN that Giganews offers.
I'm looking at securing my whole connection and have never used a paid-for VPN service, just some of the free ones like Tor that tend to be abysmally slow....
How to access websites without company proxy?2012-06-30 13:50:25Hello,
I used to be able somehow to access the internet without company proxy on my computer using Administrator(Local) user... while my main user located in the server ( Domain ), i used to run IE as Administrator ....
They did something that i cant ever access the internet without using the company proxy even with Administrator and other local users on my PC...
I have tried to use 3D party proxy, but it doesnt work..
How do i bypass this proxy and be able to browse the internet without it? ( i know its possible since i can ping websites .. ) ..
Im asking this because i have many websites that i cant browse with the proxy since they are blocked by Websense Firewall...
Recommendations for Paid Proxy Sites?2013-03-01 07:55:38I want to bypass regional blocks on online content. (I pay for these services so I'm not really trying to do anything particularly shady.) Anyone know of a good proxy based in the US? It's fine if it costs money as long as it's a reputable company. Do content providers know these are proxies and block those too? How would the quality of streaming video be through such a proxy? Thanks....
Linux Squid proxy Headers question ( anoynomus browsing )2012-02-20 16:55:22Im using squid on a Linux VPS. This is my first build and i did pretty good just with basic research. I was able to configure my proxy to test as an Elite anoyanmous proxy. BUT im not sure thats a good thing because with denying some of the headers like forward and xforward. it makes it obvious that its a proxy.
Are there any other ways to setup the headers, to keep my home IP hidden but not make my proxy so obvious? so my goals would be, hide my home IP and not make it obvious on the other end that im using a proxy?
again im using squid and makign my canges in the squid.conf file, its in the main squid directory and has all the options # out. so you can have a look at the options if you like...
DNS Server change on a Proxied connection2012-07-25 15:10:22The story is:
My ISP in Dubai (Etisalat) used to force users to manually enter a proxy server to be able to use their internet
proxy1.emirates.net.ae Port: 8080
last 2 years this has changed and users no longer need to enter anything in the proxy settings but the connection still goes through their proxy server anyway
so I have 2 questions regarding changing my DNS servers:
1) Is it true that even if I change my DNS settings from the router I am not actually using them since my connection runs through a proxy? Is a valid argument or can I safely change the DNS servers to one that I want and benefit from its usage?
2) When I changed my DNS server to Google or OpenDNS and run the namebench utility, it told me that there are faster DNS servers and *claimed* that my ISP's DNS servers are 80% faster
a) not true
b) maybe true, but due to the proxy server runnig, this is why I *felt* that browsing webpages is faster
c) this is very true, I should stick to my ISP's DNS and the little speed burst I felt while browsing and how snappy loading pages was is just a *placebo* effect
Please guide meh I am l0$t...
Noob VPN questions2011-11-21 16:15:38I'm trying to connect from my home PC to my office's network using a VPN connection.
I don't know alot about VPN connections in general, so here's what I'm wondering:
As long as I keep the VPN connection (it's a small prog in my notification bar) opened, will all internet connections use this VPN instead of my regular internet connection? For instance, if I use Google Chrome to surf the web, does it connect via the VPN to my office's network, and from there to the internet? If it's not, is there a way to let a program choose which connection (internet or VPN) to choose? I want to be able to connect to the internet using the VPN.
And another question: which is my IP adress when connecting via the VPN? The image server at my office needs to send images to my PC (using the VPN) but it needs my IP adress; is this the same IP adress I've always had or do I have another one using the VPN?
best choice for connecting to office pc2011-11-12 02:38:13currently using rdp and can get into office pc from anywhere. but it is a little slow since the whole desktop gets sent to the client. also it gets kind of hard navigating a 1920 x 1080 screen on an iphone.
what are my other options?
I know there is a built in vpn client on the iphone. I managed to set up a connection and can connect to my office pc when i am on the office lan. havent tried navigating to it from the outside. but when i connect, i only see the public shared folders. is this what vpn does? basically a samba browser?
i do not want to go through a third party like logmein.
i was looking at commodo unitehttp://www.comodo.com/home/email-sec...vpn-access.php
but do not really know what it does.
I am sure this problem has been solved thousands of times but my google searches do not turn up insightful reviews-but a lot of advertising for vpn clients to vpn providers. any pointers?...
2 Router on one Interent Connection (one via VPN)2012-01-29 17:15:24I work a lot from home these days and would like to setup two routers for one Internet connection. I'm new to all this so I would really appreciate some feedback to my planned setup.
I have the router from my ISP (ISP router) which is some no name router and plan on getting a modern router that supports DD WRT to run Open Vpn (Vpn router).
I would like to have the Vpn router connecting to my vpn via Open Vpn and the other router to just access the Internet like always.
How can I set this up? Do I simply connect the Vpn router to the ISP router?
Any help would be fantastic!...
VPN connection disconnects randomly2012-10-23 08:05:23Hi,
I just set up a VPN connection with my Galaxy Nexus to my Router at home. It works but I realized that the connection drops at some point. This is quite annoying because I want to use it as a security measure when staying at hotels and using their open WiFi. But when the VPN drops at some point and the WiFi stays connected this does not really make sense because my phone will keep sending data.
Is there anything I can do? Why disconnects the VPN at some point?
Can I at least tell the WiFi to cancel when the VPN drops?
VPN assistance2011-11-14 21:45:38Currently, I utilize a VPN that is through our ISP, where I set up the VPN on the remote computer using their info, and it then connects that computer to our network. I am considering changing ISP to Comcast, and they do not offer VPN service. Since we are all using Win7 or XP, could I still utilize the built in vpn functionality within windows to establish the connection? The new ISP will provide a static IP, and this is only for intermittant working offsite, not a permanent connection. ALso, can this type of connection handle more than one logged in at a time? I dont know what type of equipment Comcast would give me, but if I have a static IP what would I need to do to establish the VPN? If I need additional hardware, what would it be, and would I need it on both ends?...
VNC access to computer with active VPN connection2012-10-29 20:10:22I am trying to come up with a way to VNC in to my server that stays connected to a VPN. I use a dynamic DNS service that is updated from my router and neither that hostname, nor the VPN ip is letting me in. I am assuming the first because the IP is not correct, the second because there is no port forwarding on the VPN exit server. So that begs the question:
1) How can I login to my VNC server if it is on an active VPN connection?
I do have a second ethernet port on this computer. But if I go live with that interface, I have to somehow route all non-VNC traffic through only the other interface, else everything else can use that connection, making the VPN rather pointless.
I am on OSX 10.8.2.
Hopefully there is a simple solution to this and I am overanalyzing!
Thanks in advance guys!...
USA Proxy, security?2013-06-19 00:31:45Are free proxies generally secure enough to be doing https passwords etc over? Is there any way for them to scrape passwords or other encrypted data?
for example, I was looking at these.http://www.hidemyass.com/proxy-list/
I am working in Mexico, and have some sites that are complaining that I'm not in the USA.. and I can't figure out how to get around that so was looking into proxies.
I am not trying to HIDE anything I'm doing, I just want the site to see that my connection is coming from the US so it works.
If you have any suggestions for free USA prox servers that would be great. I only need it for a few days.
Maybe I should be looking at Tor?
FTPing blocked by proxy only allowing HTML/8083 port.2012-09-10 23:15:22Ok.
Trying to do some work from home. In an over-zealous attemt to keep us safe from the evil hackerzzz, my wireless ISP has put in place a ban on incoming and OUTGOING ftp. They only allow traffic through port 83, and utilize a proxy.
I don't want to circumvent their security: it's in place to prevent people from running servers at home. It is NOT, however, in place to prevent me from uploading and downloading to FTP servers on the net. After talking with their fairly clueless IT, they have no problem with me connecting to FTP servers on the net, but they also have no clue how to make it happen.
Any ideas that I can relay to these guys? Opening up standard FTP ports on the proxy is not going to happen. Is there a program or a web proxy that I can send them an email about to get it vetted and 'approved' for use?...
What's the best FREE way to use a proxy as a transparent gateway?2013-02-14 17:55:45Alright so here's the basic deal. My girlfriend has been without internet for nearly a week now owing to a huge outage in her immediate area. She doesn't have a landline so she can't use dialup, and there isn't any nearby internet she can mooch off of either because, hey, area outage.
I've had situations like this before, and when it happens to me I just load up my phone and tether it. The problem is that my phone won't tether normally; instead it sets up a proxy that I connect through.
Now it's easy enough for me to redirect my software through the proxy, but my girlfriend... well she's not the technical type, and her system really isn't set up for it either. I can do it for her, sure, but I'd much rather there be a simpler (for her) solution.
What I've been looking for for a while is some way to set up a transparent gateway that just redirects all traffic through the proxy. No messing around with proxifier, no screwing with browser settings, just have her router point to a different gateway and call it done. Anything on the network now uses the proxy, including things which don't really like using proxies without something like Proxifier/etc.
Yes, this is a bit overkill for the situation, but nobody said us geeks are simple.
I have a number of spare systems lying around if I'd need to make a custom box to do this, including a laptop or two. Hardware is not a problem....
Network connection fails error2012-05-21 16:30:25I have set up a security camera system in house with access to it from the internet. People from out of state can access the cameras from the internet and so can I.
The problem is I have tried through Firefox 3.6.24n and IE8 from work. I can get the sign in page, put in my user name and password and in the bottom of the browser it will say loading items but then I get a Network connection error. I have IE8 and so do the people who also access it.
I am behind a proxy server also at work.
I have tried to access it straight through the ip address (my home router which can done but not from work) with the port number and through a dns rename.
Would the proxy at work be the problem?...
Problem accessing 192.168.2013-08-06 10:45:22Hello!
At work I have to use a VPN and a proxy. Recently I can't access local addresses that starts with 192.168.... I can access anything from outside or from the vpn network but not local ip's. If I ping a local IP it give's me a Request timed out, although my colleagues have no problem in accessing them.
I did an ipconfig /all and for me it looks fine!
Can you please give me an idea about what could be the problem? If you need a dump of my ipconfig I will provide it.
Also, I'm using Windows 7, if it can help you in some way.
About OpenDNS if I use a proxy server2012-03-25 22:20:22My ISP which is ETISALAT in Dubai routes all its customer's connections through their proxy server: proxy1.emirates.net.ae port: 8080
even if I don't enter any proxy settings in my browser, somehow the connections still route through their proxy.
Is it true that in my case, no matter what DNS Servers I define for my router manually in the router configuration (I have a linksys E1000) or in Windows TCP/IP / Network Adapter Settings, I will still be using Etisalat's DNS and not the OpenDNS or Google DNS that I have set??
Well if that is true, then why is it that when I do set an alternate DNS server on my own and run a program called namebench, it actually detects that I am using a different DNS server and tells me that my ISPs default DNS servers are like 70% faster than the ones I am currently using?
I thought it should be the oppoosite way round
I am confused with this really
hope someone can shed some light...
