View related: Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension2011-11-11 14:23:41I have just recently been diagnosed with this & would like to know from others who have also been diagnosed and are taking Diamox (Acetazolamide).
1-How many mg's of Diamox are you taking?
2-How much water do you typically drink a day? 6-8 glasses of water a day?
Instructions state take plenty of water, but my neuro states restrict water due to the possibility of loosing sodium. How do you know if you have overdone the water?...
water feeling in head. Pls help2011-11-11 11:45:54Thanks for reading my question.
Mid April I came down with an awful virus. I didnt know what it was and either did the doctors. My symptoms then were mainly nausea, loss of appetite, flu like symptoms, tingling/shaking and the occasional twitch. FINALLY in mid July i was diagnosed with H pylori infection. However, I completed my medication last night and feel no different. Now my symptoms are substantially worse. I have widespread twitching, cracking bones (every bone seems to crack) I have paresthesia of my forehead, scalp and face. I also feel this water like sensation in the back of my head. It is like a fizzing-liquid sound at the base of my skull. I'll be lying in bed and it can just feel the liquid. One night back in May, I was laying down and I felt liquid trickle down my forehead. It was like someone pouring water. Now, it is behind my ears as well as back of skull. That along with the facial paresthesia. I've also been getting headaches, about every other day. I also experience tremors on and off throughout the day. Its worse when I wake up. My startle reflex is also getting out of control.
I want to believe that this is all sleep related. I've been running on about 2-4 hours of sleep each day for over 3 months. My question is what should I ask my doctor? I've explained my symptoms to her and she just tells me that it is anxiety, which I know it is not. I'm fearing that it may be something like multiple sclerosis or a CSF leak. I have a MRI scheduled for tomorrow. Hopefully, they will figure out what is wrong....
Clear drops from nose.2011-11-18 11:45:44recently over the last 3 months, i've had odd occations where my nose will just run. its a clear liquid and normally it happens just randomly. 2 days go, i was at work doing nothing out of the ordanry, when suddenly it happened. only 3-6 drips. i went and grabd a tissue and came back to the counter. about 1 hour later it happened again.
Before than it happened at home. 3-5 drips. and once awhile ago before then. and i once more in between.
I thought it odd. but after an incdnt at a waterfall it has started happening alot more. this happened less than a month.
at the waterfall I often jump off a rock into the water and swim around like an idiot. but last time i was there, i jumped off and i dont really remember how deep i got, but i remember my head suddenly hurt like mad. and my eyes. then as i resurfaced it didnt get better. I was sitting down holding my tempals until the pain subsided.
after than i had a MAJOR headache and was somewhat dizzy.
Its happened once before when i got alittle to deep, but no where as bad.
since then ive had these nose runs. just small, 5-7 drops of clear liquid. i havent got a cold, or a nose infection, i've never had a nose infection to my knowlge. Im currently on a drug called Fluoxetine to help battle depression. and also have been seeing a Chiropratcter for my back and neck.
Other than that i believe i am a normal person. Thanks for your time....
Sensation of water being poured on head2011-11-26 10:55:48Hello all...
I am new to this site, and was reading that there are people who have the sensation of water being dumped on their legs etc....
Well about 2 weeks ago I started getting the sensation that water is being poured on my head, each time it happens it's the same spot. I don't feel pain with it, it just feels odd and each time I try to wipe the water away. Can anyone tell me if they have had this happen to them, and if so what do I do. I can't imagine going to the doctor and them taking me serious so I don't even know what questions to ask.
Thanks for you help in advance....

What the heck is going on? Anyone have this problem before? If so what can I do besides get an MRI and tell my doctor? He keeps telling me its stress. I am INSISTING On an MRI my next visit. Any other tests I should ask for? Im scared to death!
Passing out while eating?! Help =(2011-11-14 18:05:51I know this sounds completely crazy, but here's the story. When I take a bite of food (usually happens with bread) and swallow it, sometimes I start to feel very lightheaded. Its not like normal lightheadedness, it also seems like I'm not getting enough air even though its not hard to breath at all or anything. This does not occur when I'm eating too fast or too much at a time, and probably only occurs once or twice in a typical week. Generally, drinking water will almost completely get rid of the feeling right as I swallow it. I've never thought anything of this...until now.
I was at my friends house eating mac and cheese when I felt the lightheadedness coming (I was eating standing up), so I began to walk over to get water and right as I swallowed another bite of mac and cheese that I had been chewing, the lightheadedness completely overtook me, I quickly felt myself losing consciousness and I passed out. On the way down I hit my head hard on a chair and the impact woke me up after about a second, but I didn't feel the actual impact. I was completely out for about three seconds.
Since then when I'm eating I always make sure to have water on me, but recently I have been getting close to passing out again (I get lightheaded and immediately stop eating and drink a little water) and it eventually goes away. Either way, I'm very scared that its going to happen again and if anyone has any idea what this could be it would be very appreciated =)...

Warm water feeling on leg2012-01-13 00:50:26I have had this warm water feeling on my right leg now for two days. I have read a closed thread about how other users who went to doctor found out that it was nothing serious in the end.
Should i get tested for DVT? This is really worrying me. Im 32. Also im now on the 9th month of the nine month treatment of the TB germ and taking Isonizid. I'm wondering whether this could be somehow related.
Does anyone know about this? Please let me know.
Cerebrospinal Fluid Leak2011-11-14 18:06:09If my brain leaks Cerebrospinal Fluid through my Nose what effects does it have on my Brain and Body? I'm just asking because I'm leaking clear fluid from my Nose....
Nose always in field of vision2011-11-11 14:23:45About 6 months ago, I woke up and could see my nose (mainly the right side) constantly in my field of vision. This occurred two weeks after an eye examination which showed nothing abnormal (my eyes were dilated at the time for the test).
I just had sinus surgery a few weeks ago, hoping the issue with my vision was caused by my sinus infection and would be relieved after the procedure but it did not help. My sinus infection was confined to only my left maxillary sinus. I was previously put on 9 different antibiotics. Some of the antibiotics I was allergic to and/or could not tolerate. The course of antibiotics I was able to finish, helped the infection but could not completely get rid of it all.
Seeing the sides and tip of my nose in my field of vision is extremely bothersome. It makes me dizzy at times. Some days it seems to bother me worse than others but it is ALWAYS there. I don't understand why it came on all the sudden one day. Doctor's are not taking me seriously. Everyone can see their nose in their field of vision if they think about and I read somewhere that there is a process in your brain that tells your eyes to block out your nose from your vision and it's like mine is broken or something! I can't wear sunglasses anymore because on top of seeing my nose in my field of vision, I can now see the sunglasses! I never had this problem prior to 6 months ago. It is scary and frustrating to not know what is causing it. Sometimes my temples hurt and I feel pressure, but it's not a headache. I've had numerous CT scans and Xrays for my sinus infection and nothing came up that would indicate an issue with my vision.
A visit to an ophthalmologist was a waste of time and now I am hoping to get a referral to see a neuro-ophthalmologist. I am thankful I am not blind or anything like that, but I feel extremely scared and worried that there is an issue with the signals and working order of my brain. Maybe there is nerve muscle damage, who knows, but any help would......

Psuedotumor Cerebri - medicine side effect question2011-11-13 21:25:44I recently had an LP to relieve pressure - was told that it was psuedotumor cerebri - I ended up with a spinal headache and had a blood patch done two days later. My headache has still not gone away. At my follow up appointment, doctor prescribed Diamox (I think I spelled it right?)
I was suppose to take it twice a day but after taking the first pill, I had tingling from my head to my toes (even the tip of my nose!)...its not slight tingling but almost unbearable tingling. My hands started to go numb before I went to bed and everything tastes very disgusting. I did not even bother taking the other pill yesterday; I called my doctor today to ask about side effects and was told to keep taking the medicine but instead of twice a day, they want me to up it to three times a day.
My question is...are the side effects long lasting? My doctor has given me five refills and wants me to finish all of them. If the side effects do not go away soon, there is no way I will be able to finish all of the medicine.
Any suggestions? Does anything help with the way it makes food/drink taste? Its hard for me to even get water down...
Does anyone have similar symptoms?2011-11-25 07:15:45I really don't know what board to post this on as I don't yet have a diagnosis. In December I had some mild pain in the cheek, and mentioned it to the doctor as I happened to be there with my daughter. He prescribed a nasal spray. A few days later I got a major cold and had thick green discharge out of my nose for weeks. The cheek pain continued and I still assumed sinuses. A round of antibiotics didn't clear the cheek pain, but after a few weeks of nasonex, it went away. A month later I got a small cold and the cheek pain came back (btw, only ever had this in the left cheek).
Anyways, here we are 3 months later since the recurrance, two more antibiotics and 2 nasal sprays later and nothing is helping this cheek pain.
It is worse in the evenings. It is worse after sports. It is worse with chewing.
The only thing that helps a tiny bit is swishing cold water around my mouth for some reason it calms the pain down for a few minutes.
The doctor is now saying TN or TMJ and has me going for a catscan to make sure everything is normal.
Xray was fine, and dentist says teeth are perfect.
Anyone have similar symptoms?...

Mystery Illness2011-11-16 18:35:56Hey I'm new here
For many years I've had a feeling of fullness in one side of my face and my ear, and the hearing in one of my ears seems to be slightly worse (that which is on the side of the fullness)
I thought I may have an acoustic neuroma, I have no experienced any balance problems or vomiting/nausia etc, nor do I have headaches.
I do however have random pains on the same side of my head, I haven't had these for quite a while. They seem to be like a quick lightning sensation in a small area of my brain which lasts for less than a second. They are accompanied by ear aches. About a year ago I also had sensations where it felt as if the muscle above my eye was slightly disfunctional. In the fullness of my face, I have no sensation of numbness nor of any pins and neadles or tingling.
I was told by a face expert that the cartilage in my nose was blocked and may be causing these issues. I am somewhat sceptical of this, as I want to know exactly how a problem in my nose could be causing ear aches, and my nose is not blocked, but the lining in one nostrol was apparently thicker.
I was given a nasal spray known as Nasonex containing memotasone furoate, cellulose, glycerol...
This spray meant that my symptoms more of less dissapeared... until the spray ran out. Could it still be an acoustic neuroma, is it worth getting an MRI to check?
tightness in throat and behind nose? is this a chemical imbalance?2011-11-11 11:46:00I have had a range of symptoms for about 6 years now which are very impeding to my day to day functioning, I am wondering if there is anyone out there who is feeling or has felt the same.
In 2004 I was diagnosed with a pituatory tumour and had always thought that the symptoms were related but last year an MRI scan revealed that the tumor had gone but the symptoms have remained.
Within an hour of waking I develop a tightness under my chin and then behind my nose. This impact greatly on my breathing and I spend most of my time gasping for air. Going about daily activities is very challenging as I feel constantly dizzy, uneasy, anxious and heady, anxiety medications do not ease the problem and doctors haven't got a clue whats going on. I am exausted. Any suggestions would be much appreciated....
Why do I feel a pulse on my nose it happens almost all day for a week and a half?2011-11-17 15:45:55Why do I feel a pulse on my nose it happens almost all day for a week and a half?...
Pressure in forehead/temples...PLEASE help2011-12-10 15:56:11I am continuing to have chronic pressure in my temples and forehead region. This has been going on for some time now, but has become progressively worse over the last few weeks. Now, something new has arisen in my list of symptoms. Whenever I make various facial expressions, like wrinkle my forehead, raise my eyebrows, or just generally flex my forehead any which-way, I tend to feel the pressure much more, and it tends to 'draw out' the pain/pressure from inside my head to the surface just under the skin. I feel the pain/pressure mainly in my temples/forehead but also 'echoing' back over the surface of the top of my head.
If anyone knows what this might be, PLEASE HELP, I am going insane with worry that I am slowly developing a serious problem, and I AM ONLY 28. By the way, sinuses have allready been suspected, and although I have a stuffy nose and lost 80% of my smell, I do not have a runny nose or sneezing or other 'allergy' symptoms....
So scared, not sure what to do anymore2011-11-27 15:45:51This has been going on over a year now, symptoms as follows:
Frontal dull headache almost continual
Ear ache - throbbing behind right ear from time to time
Throbbing pain in between eyes, bridge of nose, behind nose
Pressure in face
Neck pain - ache and throbbing
DIAGNOSTICS SO FAR:
CT scan of head
CT scan of sinuses x 2
Endoscopy of nasal passages x 3
None of these have worked.
I am convinced I either have: Brain tumour, pituitary tumour, facial nerve schwaomma.
Does anyone have any ideas, or what I should do next, I am struggling to cope with the pain and the worry.
