Trane XL90 problems
The vent blower is constantly running. If I shut the unit off it will come on and run though it's cycle and warm the house to the set temperature on the thermostat, but then when it's done heating and the main blower shuts
off as normal the vent blower just keeps running and will not shut off at all. Clueless...
View related: Trane XL90 slight vibration2011-12-05 11:18:12I have a Trane XL90, model TUX100R948001 furnace. I'm hearing a slight vibration when the furnace is running. Other than that it seems to function normally. The red light is flashing fast which is normal. The motor was replaced 13 months ago. Does anybody know what this may be?
Replacing Trane XL90 Vent Inducer2011-11-30 21:48:08I have a Trane XL90 (TUX080R942V2) with a noisy vent inducer (it vibrates as the speed ramps up & down and induces vibrations in the cabinet). Trane tells me a replacement kit is available which includes the vent motor/blower, a new circuit board and wiring. I'm not a HVAC guy but installed the furnace myself and am pretty handy with electrical/electronics and mechanical things.
This replacement kit is supposedly quieter than the original and contains a different type of motor and speed control circuitry so I am considering doing it.
Am wondering though if this is a DIY project or if special instruments or tools are needed?
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated........
Trane XL90 heat exchanger2011-11-02 03:24:46Hi,I was told by a tech that my five year old Trane XL 90 needed a heat exchanger. The part is under warranty but the labour would be $1000.00 (does that sound right?). I have looked at my contract and it states that the warranty covers both parts and labour. If the warranty covers parts I figure it should also cover labour, correct??Also does it make sense that a 5 yr old furnace should be needing a heat exchanger? This is the first time that I have had to change a heat exchanger and I have had furnaces well over 20 years old?Thank you....
FURNACE RUNS, BUT NO HEAT!! grrrrrrr.2012-03-10 12:01:36I have a TRANE XL90. This afternoon I noticed it was very cold in the house (59 degrees) and I heard the furnace fan running. Turns out, the blower (or initial fan) runs but the heat does not come on and blow hot air. help!...
Trane XL90 transformers2012-10-01 07:31:31This unit has blown two transformers in the last month. Our hvac man just replaces them. There has to be another problem blowing these units. I don't know enough about this particular gas heater, and I don't feel the hvac guy is troubleshooting the unit further. Any suggestions to what is poping these transformers?...
Burners Won't Light on Trane xl902011-10-26 09:33:15I went to test our furnace, as the cold weather will be coming before we know it. The ignitor lights up, I hear a click (gas) and then the burners do not light. After trying it about 25 times, I could get the burners to actually light a handful of times. The suggestion was made the the burners need to be cleaned. Does that make sense? If so, I can't figure out how to remove them. Thanks!...
Trane XL90 Highlimit Switch Open2013-01-19 06:40:29Two Trane 90XL installed 2000 run off one thermostat. One runs great now. Second furnace blows cold air and burners have no flame.
First service tech said problem was drain tube loose and pressure set too high.
Adjusted pressure and cleaned drain tube and reservoir. Same thing happened again in 3 days.
Second tech says that the main board is shot because the 4 light pulses indicate the high limit switch is malfunctioning. He jumped the high limit and the furnace started normally then quit.
He says the board is shot and needs replaced.
Can any one confirm his diagnosis?...
Trane furnace won't ignite2012-10-25 00:56:12I have trane furnace model tde060a936c0 and it doesn't ignite. When I turn my thermostat to heat I hear a clicking noise on it, then I go to the furnace and I hear the blower motor turn after a few seconds I see the hot surface ignitor glow red hot after a few more seconds I hear a few clicks and get no ignition. It tries 3 times then enters lockout. I know I have gas because my gas water heater works. Also last winter was having the same problem I tried tinkering with it and broke the hot surface ignitor and called my local HVAC store and got a replacement. Still having problems I had a professional come look and I dont know what or if he did anything but it started working fine and told me there were no problems and left. Now I have the problems....
Trane XR95 Problems2011-10-27 12:53:00I am having problems with Heat on a Trane XR95 system. I verified that all wiring from the thermostat to the unit is correct and the unit is seeing a call for heat. I confirmed this with a meter on the W lead (24V) as well as the unit flashes 3 times with the RED LED which according to the manual indicates a call for heat.
The problem is that the blower starts but the burner never fires. I have attached a picture of my control board. The relay that I circled continuous switches on and off about once a second. It appears that the unit is trying to start something else which is failing. Does anyone have an idea what the relay controls?
I really appreciate any assistance....
TRANE Air Handler problems2013-02-02 14:59:04The fan motor only works when the cover panel is removed... not sure what the issue is. The motor sounds weak when it starts up, could it possibly be a relay? I honestly have no idea. It's a 1985 TRANE model. I would appreciate any input. thank you...
Trane xe-80 not ignating2012-10-21 20:06:33I have a Trane XE-80 A/C heating unit, the heat is no working.
No light is flashing on the door panel, blower comes on, ignater gets red but the fire does not come on all the time, fan start but it blows cold air, at times it does fire but most of the times it doesn't. I replaced the thermostat but the problems still continues. Does any one has any sugestions....
Trane XL90 - Blower runs but no heat2012-04-18 02:26:47Hello,
I'm a new home owner (bought this house in September) and I woke up this morning to a cold house. I checked the thermostat and it read about 65 (I had the temp set to 74). I turned the heat up a couple notches and left for work. When I got home, it still hadn't warmed up at all (at least not any more than the warmer daytime temps would've caused).
I'm not even sure where to begin troubleshooting. I've heard the first thing everyone asks for is the error flash codes. This particular model will show the last four faults on power up. They are as follows:
2 -- System Lockout (Retries or Recycles exceeded)
8 -- Low flame sense
2 -- System Lockout (Retries or Recycles exceeded)
2 -- System Lockout (Retries or Recycles exceeded)
The paperwork I have states that this was a new install in 2005.
I'm not really sure what to do next, but any assistance is greatly appreciated!!...
Blower Motor Replacement Question2013-06-22 15:54:12Hello,
I have an older Trane XL90 system that I believe the squirrel cage motor has gon out on. The motor will run for 10 minutes or so then just stop spinning and buzz. Funny thing is that if I remove it from the air handler it will run fine but if it comes in contact with it, it will stop running and just buzz. Also it give a little shock if you touch it while running outside the air handler. So am I safe to assume it is a bad motor or is it just the capacitor? Also what was the original motor for this unit? The one I have in it now is GE# 5KCP39KG - N691S in bold, specs: 1/2HP - 115V - 60HZ - 9.3 AMPS - 1375 RPM. The Grainger rep I called said that he didnt have a generic replacement for this motor and said he thought the motor for this unit was a 1/2HP 1075 RPM with 9.0 amps? Any help appreciated my wife and three year old daughter are growing inpatient and hot lol!...
Trane DBE 080 Horizonal Installation2011-12-07 02:37:52Hi All: Newby here with a question. 7 or 8 years ago my 40 yo OEM gas furnace died (burned out heat exchanger). DW wanted A/C when furnace replaced. Old furnace was installed in house crawl space. Local HVAC Contractor advised that he could install A/C+Furnace in crawl space. We agreed on price and he installed Trane TDE 080 and a few months later sold the business and left the state. Since then I have had no major problems other than every time the new dealer tech comes to do annual PM he writes up horrible stuff on the original installation and that is the nature of my question. Do any of you pros know if Trane TDE 080 is approved or not for horizonal installation?...
Pilot light -trane xe782011-12-01 17:57:032 weeks ago my pilot light on my trane xe78 went out but continued to blow air out of the duct. I took off the top and bottom covers to visually check for problems. When I put the covers back on the pilot light came on and ran without interruption for 2 weeks. The last 3 days it has been going out once or twice a day. When I take covers off and put them back on it runs fine for the next 6 to 24 hours then goes out. Any ideas on how to fix this?...
York or Trane?2011-11-29 18:57:16I've got two quotes, one for a 3-ton Trane xl16i. and another for a York 3-ton 8T HP.
They're basically the same on specs (below), the York is quieter and about $1000 cheaper.
Right now I'm leaning towards the cheaper quieter York.
Both are 18 SEER.
The Trane is HSPF 9.2
The York is HSPF 9.4
As far as I can tell the Trane is 74db the York is 65db.
Both have two stage compressors.

Heat Pump2012-11-16 20:16:43I have a two yr. old Goodman heat pump with electric back up that I have had nothing but problems with. This time it will frost up at 30 degrees and will not go into the defrost mode. We put in a new board and temp sensor and still no luck. It has a ten yr. labor & material warranty, but this doesn't help my electric bill when the furnace runs constantly on system + 2. Also the heat pump is still running at this temp. I guess the next step is that he will check the gas when the it hits 50 today. Any suggestions?
It's frustrating because I replaced a 20 yr. old Trane that had no problems for this high efficient heat pump/furnace.
Does Trane Sell online2011-11-20 11:57:11Can you buy Trane furnaces online? It looks like Rheem and Ruud sell online, does anyone sell Trane? If you wanted to install Trane yourself, what would be your options?...
Trane Perfict fit filters2011-11-29 01:37:50Where can I purchase Trane Perfect fit filters? Does Johnstone or Bakers Bros. sell them, or do I have to buy them from a Trane dealer?...
