Please, need programming tips for DSC PC1832
On the other alarm system I installed several years ago (Concord), I had to: 1) identify the zone; 2) tell the panel what type of zone; 3) label it; 4) any delay; maybe some other things I don't remember...
On this DSC, I haven't figured out any of that. Let's say I want to program a zone for a wired N/C door switch. Can you walk me through this; it will clue me in so I can do the rest.
OK, so I press *8 [installer code]...
View related: Use 3rd party programmable door control system to disarm a DSC PC18322011-10-26 10:58:15We have a DSC PC1832 ur503 v4.23cp01 installed in our business (in early 2010.) We also have a 3rd party programmable door control system that uses RFID key fobs for access to the building. We are going to have our employees arm the building via the DSC keypad. However, we would like to use the door control system to disarm the building by, preferably, sending a momentary contact from the door control system to the DSC PC1832 each time a door key fob is used to successfully access the building. Therefore, if the DSC is armed, the 1st person to successfully access the building will disarm the alarm.
Our installer of the DSC said there’s no way to have the door control system disarm the DSC. He mentioned a momentary contact input on the DSC PC1832 that toggles between arming and disarming (during each closure), but said it can’t be used to only disarm. The door control system fully programmable and we should be able to should be able to handle different types of analog and digital I/O.
I would like to double check and see if there’s a way to do this?...
DSC - Upgrade advice request - Old Power 8 to PC18322011-10-25 14:15:47Hi,
I'm currently on a long term work assignment in the US, and while here I thought of buying the parts needed to upgrade my existing wired system in my South African holiday home. The current system drives an RF transmitter for the monitoring company.
I have the following items in my shopping cart, which I think is all that I need to upgrade my old system.
DSC PK5500 Sixty-four Zone Programmable LCD Keypad x 2
Honeywell CE3 CODE ENCRYPTOR 3 x 1
DSC PC1832NK Power 1832 Security System (board &cabinet only) x 1
DSC DSC-PCLINKSCW Programming Serial Cable x 1 (will this make programming easier?)
DSC PC5108 Eight Hardwire Zone Expander Module x 1 (not sure if this is needed - current system 8 zone)
Please advise if the PC5108 is needed and if this will fit into the cabinet, and any other comments will be welcome.
I have photos of my old system (PC5005), but cant post these....
PC1832 call the cell phone!2013-01-19 06:24:36Hi there and happy 2013! I've just installed my pc1832 but i am totally lost the steps and what to put where in order to get a call from the system!!
can anyone please walk me through this? thanks
also want to know is it possible to disable a zone only for door chime but the other door still unable?
How to connect motion detector to DSC PC 1832 panel2011-10-26 10:36:01I can't figure out how to connect and program my system in order for it to recognize the motion detectors. I wired the red and black wire of the motion detector to AUX + and - respectively and the 2 other wires to COM and Zone but it doesn't work. The red light on the motion detector (Honeywell) is always on.
I guess I need to do some programming on the PC1832. I succesfully connected the door detector. Only the motion detector don't work....
[SOLVED] DSC - LCD Keypad - Confusing Zone Type Lights2013-03-24 20:44:39Panel: PC1832
Keypad: LCD (don't know the exact model number - can I determine this without taking it off the wall or contacting my alarm company?)
When programming zone types (-) the keypad is supposed to display the current type for each zone. But what it shows is confusing.
Current Type --> Zone Lights Displayed --> My Reaction
1 (delay 1) --> nothing, then 1 --> OK, makes sense
3 (instant) --> nothing, then 1 and 2 --> hmm, do you add the 1 and the 2?
6 (delay, stay/away) --> nothing, then 2 and 3 --> hrmm, this one looks like multiplication...?
25 (interior delay) --> 2, then 1 and 3 --> err...?
The zones are behaving correctly, and their default attributes turn out correct. So I seem to be programming the types correctly, just can't crack the code of the status lights.
The installer's manual and Google are offering me no solutions that I can see.
Help? Thanks in advance....
Power Series PC1832 (Programming 8 Wired Motions / 2 zones / no phone line )2013-01-19 06:24:51Hello, Thank you in advance for taking the time to help.... I have a PC1832 that is in my shop it was a brand new system that came w the property. The property is a giant garage enviornment with four bays and an office area. I did a master reset as all the programming manuals were left behind... What I am looking to do seems simple but i must be missing a step... This system is utilizing 8 outdoor WIRED motions being used indoors (due to lack of tempurature control in building), the 8 motions are wired 4 to zone 1, and 4 to zone 2. Two horns are being used and wired to 'BELL'... There are no door or window swipes. Only one keypad (PK 5500 / RFK 5500?)All motions are functioning (they light up upon motion) There is no Telephone or pots lines in building. I was attempting to program both zone 1 and 2 to have a 30 second delay upon motion (allowing time to disarm) then both horns to go off for 5min and reset to detect motion again. I deactivated the phone line, programmed zone 1 and 2. When i set up for test walk through the motions detect me but no alarm. I performed bell test and they work... It seems that im missing something here and can use some help... . There are no TROUBLE codes present. I will do a master reset again. I am hoping someone could provide the programming steps and examples from start to finish. FYI there are not any resistors in place, and i was told by the electrician that they would not necessarily be needed.... Thank you very much for your time and help... Warren...
Replacing DSC Keypad2013-01-19 06:23:43Mr. Ron: Your were very helpful last year when I need to add a wireless receiver and two wirless window contacts to my DSC system. Now I have another question for you. I am consiering replacing my DSC PC5010 Keypad with a DSC PK5500. Is this just a simple matter of disconneting the old keypad and wiring the new one in, or will there be some re-programming needed? And finally will the PK5500 make programming easier? Will I still need to program in hexadecimal? Thanks much..........
Upgrading to PC1832 - Gen Sys Supv / Gen Sys Trbl Mystery2011-10-26 12:36:28Hi,
I have just upgraded to a pc1832 from a pc5010 [that was in another thread & decided to make a clean start with this specific problem.] I searched the forum for these terms & found nothing applicable.
I have transferred all the wires to the new system & I programmed it. The wired & wireless sensors all work, yet
I am still getting the cryptic Gen Sys Trbl and Gen Sys Supv.
- 2 wired keypads (not wireless rcvrs)
- Wired expansion zone
- PC5132-433 wireless expansion
- Telephone module(comms are flagged off at the moment to isolate the problem)
Any ideas about how I can solve this?
Adding more alarm triggers to existing system2011-10-26 04:54:49Hi, I tried reading the threads and searching but I didn't see anything that helps me with my question. I have an existing security system monitored by ADT. It was already installed in the house when I bought the house. I checked the unit and it's DSC PC1832 currently using 8 zones based on the information written on the closet box. The 3 keypads are DSC as well but I am not sure exactly what the model is but they look like PK5501 when I checked it out at the DSC website.
So here's my issue. I wanted to add more triggers on 6 windows in the 2nd level because we are putting up a pergola and the windows will now be easily accessible. I just want to add something that will trigger the alarm when the windows are open. ADT gave me an estimate of $540 bucks. I feel that this is a rip off and I am wondering if I can do this addition myself and if so, what do I need to buy and how can I do it. I would prefer adding wireless triggers if possible to my existing system.
Thanks for your help in advance....
Trying to get NetTalk Duo (voip) to work with DSC PC18322011-10-25 17:36:01Hi,
I read over the FAQ of this forum and know that voip is not
considered too reliable with alarm systems, but I thought I would ask to see what you guys think about my specific situation.
I have ATT Uverse service right now providing both internet and their voip. My DSC PC1832 works reliably as far as I can tell when using the Uverse voip service. I didn't even realize at the time that I had the alarm system setup (it was put in months after the Uverse service was added) that there were any tricky issues with alarms and voip, it all just magically worked from the start. I now have read the info that ATT has provided stating how they have made their voice service work reliably with alarm systems and it does seem to in fact work.
All that is great except for the staggering bills I am starting to get for the Uverse service. One thought I had was to cut out the Uverse phone as we really didn't need it for actual talking since we all have cell phones. That just left the phone requirement for the alarm system.
Then I heard about this voip service from NetTalk that lets you plug their Duo device directly into the router. They claim that it works fairly well for faxing as it uses a G711 codec. I thought perhaps this too might work for the alarm signals so decided to give it shot.
Unfortunately my tests to the monitoring service resulted in the system retrying several times but they never got the signals on the other end. I could see looking at the phone logs that the calls were being placed for about 30 seconds, but apparently there was too much jitter or something for it all to work correctly.
Is there anything you can suggest at this point that I could try to get this combination to work?
I know there are cell phone solutions and such, but was hoping there might be some way to get this to work.
Ademco Vista 10p problems settings up2013-07-08 00:49:07Hi guys,
We just moved into a brand new place with Ademco Vista 10p security system installed (not hooked up to any one) and well the problem started with me not knowing the security codes, but after reading on this forum found the solution (power down, disconnect battery).
Problem #2 is programming this thing, *56 does not do anything for me while in data programming mode it just goes blank when i press *56, everything else seems to work in programming mode though. I have major zone problems, some zone's are showing as being open when they are not.
1. front door
2. rear door
3. motion sensor
4. motion sensor
5. window sensor
6. window sensor
How do I go about fixing this problem? I did a *97 and poof everything got worse. yikes, can anyone help with programming this thing? I have the installation guide and user manual for vista-10p but cant find programming guide anywhere.
Any help anyone can offer is much appreciated.
I guess this problem with *56 zone programming might be because I don't have a 2-line alpha keypad, anyone have any tips as to how to go about this still? My zones are so messed up....
Securing Overhead Garage Doors using DSC pc18322011-10-26 12:36:26Essentially, all I want is to know that my garage doors are shut when I head to bed. I don't need the system to go off on entry or exit.
The complication is when we come home, that they don't set off the system just by opening them; or, set off the system when we leave the house.
This MUST have been discussed on some past thread, but I didn't find one. Can anyone point me to any info on the right way to add garage doors to the system?
About to install the GE Simon XT v1.4 - Do you guys have any tips/pointer?2012-02-22 23:04:27So I'm ready to install a Simon XT Control Panel and 2 Wireless Touchscreen LCD panels, in a 5000sqft house. I'm worried about signal strength, because I'd like to put the main panel in the 'mud/utility room where the door to my garage is. Then I'd like to put one touch panel by the front door and the other on the 2nd floor hallway.
1. Do you think I would have a problem with signal strength?
2. What about any sensors (window and motion) that I have in my unfinished basement, will they be able to communicate with my panels?
3. Regarding the installation of the LCD panels. The power transformer is not like the simon Xt panel where I can run long low voltage wire down to the basement and connect the transformer down there. The LCD panels have a transfomer that needs to plug directly into the panel. Is there a way to run a much longer wire and plug it into a receptacle in the basement?
4. Are there any tips or suggestions from anyone that has a similar setup.
Thanks for your help....
PC1832 with WS49392011-11-18 21:29:58Hello
I just installed a new alarm system PC1832. It works great with wire. I have 2 keyboards, RFK5501 and PK5501. I bought two remote WS4939. I would like to make it work with my system but I can not. I have no wireless device, I have only my two remotes. Is it possible to run the 2 remotes (WS4939) without any wireless sensor?
I did this on my keyboard:
I have set the ESN for remote controls,
My areas used are 01 - 06
It did not attribute 8 of any zones because I do not use any wireless devices.
I think the remote should be functional with the user 17, but I can not make it work.
Thank you for helping me...
HELP Wireless Zone Programming in DSC PC15552011-10-25 19:16:46Hi, I'd like to install two DSC-WLS904PL wireless motion detectors to my existing security system - DSC PC1555, DSC RF5132-433 wireless receiver module and DSCPC1555RKZ keypad. I already have a wireless glassbreak sensor installed and set to zone 7 I believe. Can I enroll the two newWLS904PL to zone 8 in DSC 433 and program/enable zone 8 in PC1555 as a wireless zone? If the answer is yes, what is the key sequence to define zone 8 as ' Interior Stay/Away Zone' and set its attribute to 'wireless zone'? This is my first time dealing with security system programming and after reading the manual I am still not sure how to jump to the zone and punch in the right key combination. Your help will be greatly appreciated!...
Old Sonitrol Glass break sensor2012-09-04 17:36:08Anyone recognize this sensor? I am told its a glass break sensor. The wiring terminals are labeled + + A NO G G NC C T T.
Terminals +, A, G, NC, & C were wired (to a very old Sonitrol panel). I'm hoping to get it to work with my new DSC PC1832 panel. Can anyone help me identify the terminals and how it might be wired to my panel?

Safewatch 3000i / Vista-20p radio supervision2012-10-03 07:26:20Hey,
Searching online and coming across this forum, I have a problem I can't seem to fix with the basic information provided, unless of course I'm missing a step.
As most, I became tired of ADT's fee for monitoring my alarm system and discontinued it as the contract expired. This resulted in a communication error, 'Zone 04 - Check Radio Supervision'. I have the Safewatch 3000 system, the vista-20p. It was monitored via a regular pots line and gsm backup. I attempted to remove this fault by removing the programming from *41 and *42 followed by exiting with *99 and when the system reboots it still presents the error code.
Any tips, tricks or other thoughts to stopping this?...
In programming but can't get to section2013-06-09 04:20:58I have a DSC 1832 with LED. I press * 8 MyInstallerCode and the alarm light comes on and the programming light flashes. Entering any three digit code after that results in a long beep. Any suggestions?...
