View related: Kenmore Dryer -- starts spin then stops quickly2012-05-09 20:16:45I have a KenmoreDryer model 110.70172000. It starts the drying cycle and rotates the drum for a couple of turns. It then stops. This cyscle can be repeated with just a few seconds wait. Is there something that is cutting off power to the motor or is there something inside the motor that causes this shutdown. Replacing the motor is kind of expensive, so I am looking for a better than 'shotgun approach'. Please help....
Kenmore Dryer mod 110.676226002012-04-15 18:31:32Our electric Kenmore dryer finishes a cycle and stops. However walk back into the room in five minutes (or so) and the dryer has advanced to the next cycle and running. I visited a local repair shop and they sold me a new timer ($120) and that did not solve the problem.
The only way to stop it completely is open the door or unplug it.
Any ideas ?...
Estate Dryer Timer problem?2011-10-26 00:56:31I am helping a neighbor with their estate dryer (TED8840PQ0) It is having problems running. It will only run while putting pressure on the timer dial. If you let go it will only for a few seconds and then the buzzer goes off and the dryer stops. After messing with it for a few minutes you can get it to run for up to 5 minutes before it buzzes again and stops.
I am assuming that it is the timer going bad but want a second opinion before I have them pick one up.
Kenmore Dryer Shutting Off2011-10-25 03:15:32Hi:
I have a Kenmore stand alone electric dryer, Series 80, model 60842, that runs for about a half hour and then shuts off. If you try to restart it, it might run for 10 minutes and then shut off again. I have cleaned out the lint trap and vent going outside, but it wasn't all that full of lint. I think something is causing the motor to overheat -- any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help....
Kenmore 400 Laundry Dryer stops running before end of cycle??2011-10-25 16:57:24I have a Kenmore Laundry Dryer that stops after running just a short while. I can let it cool down and it will start again. It is a Kenmore 400, Model: 110.68432700, Serial #: MU4103911, Type: DWJR-ELE-2406028-FM54. It is an intermittent problem, but it will always start again if I let it cool down. It sounds to me like a thermostat or heating element, but I don't have the experience or knowledge to know for sure. I hope someone can help tell me what it is and how to go about repairing it. It is only 3 years old. Thanks, everyone. Larry...
Whirlpool Dryer heat problem2012-02-22 22:52:44I know people on here have probably heard about dryer problems a million times by now. Well, here is my problem. I have a Whirlpool gas dryer. It is only about 6 years old. As of about a week ago, it started having this problem. It took me a while to find out exactly what it is doing. My last test was with the exhaust tubing removed while I watched the burner through a couple of slots. It will heat up initially and seem to work fine for about 10 minutes. The burner will startup fine and go down and then come back on and just continue cycling as it normally should. At least I think that's normal for a dryer to cycle the burner off and on in order to keep it from getting too hot. After 10 or so minutes, the burner stops coming back on. I watched the flame TRY to turn on and start flickering but then heard a slight clicking noise and the flame went back down. It continues this until I shut it off. Even, if I turn it back on right away, it will not work normally even for the first 10 minutes. I don't know how long to wait before it will give me some heat at the beginning again. I've done some online reading about dryer problems but it just seems like there are so many possibilities that I'm not even sure where to start. Timer seems to work fine. Any ideas would be appreciated....
Dryer Help: Dryer works fine and turns on fine but will stop heating after 1min2011-10-26 04:16:48Hello., I have a Frigidaire Electric Dryer Model GLEQ215ESO. My dryer had a bad bearing and heating coil so I replace it about 6 months ago. It was working perfect up untill a week ago when my cloth wasnt drying. I went ahead and took a look at it and it seems to work fine for the first 2 minutes of use and then the heating coiling doesn't heat anymore after those 2 minutes.. Just blows air. Anyone have a idea on what the problem might be? Thanks...

kenmore 417.84082500 dryer sometimes starts sometimes doesn't2011-10-25 16:17:15I have a kenmore 417.84082500 dryer which for a few years it seemed to start sometimes with full cycle with heat. It would work in the morning then in the afternoon it wouldnt and vise versa. It seemed if we didnt try to use it for a while it would work, not an overheating issue where you have to let something cool down it just worked when it wanted to work.Lately it hasn't come on much with letting it sit. all lights on controls are lit fine just when you hit start it beeps like usually but does not turn on. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...
Kenmore C110.4416083 Heavy Duty Washing Machine Does not Completely Drain Tub2012-04-15 18:31:36Kenmore C110.4416083 Heavy Duty Washing Machine Assume 1988-1998 year model. The machine agitates, spins and drains but leaves 1.5 inches of water in tub. The drain lines are not kinked and are free as the pump drains 90% of the water. The spin cycle stops when the lid is open and begins spinning once the lid is closed. it is a belt driven unit and appears to work fine except for the water left at the end.
Have blown from the end of the drain line back into tub and water bubbles in tub. Belt is a little worn but all pullies are rotating, motor seems fine and timer seems to rotate flawlessly.
Prior to the rinse cycle the tub fills and then it hits the rinse portion on the timer and stops(shuts off ) for a minute or so, then it starts up again. It then agitates. It then hits the spin cycle where it drains a little water and adds a little. Then near the end it spins and drains at the same time but the drain seems to be spurious (drain pipe is full then just a small stream) . The only way to drain the water at the end is to rotate the timer around to the spin portion of the timer and leave the lid open and it drains for a couple of minutes.
Not sure if the drain should be active through out the spin cycle or once in awhile. On some other washes during the spin cycle the spin stops and then washer drains and starts spinning again this cylce happens for about 3 seconds in between which is weird and the belt squeaks when the spin cycle stops.
not sure if its the lid switch, pump restriction or timer. don't want to spend alot of money on it, its for a 96 year old grand mother.
not sure how old it is and cannot find the model in either the Kenmore site or Whirlpool. It was purchased in Canada.
Would like to find a parts manual but cannot find one on the net either
Kohler Whirlpool Starts Whenever2012-05-05 03:36:51I have an older Kohler whirlpool (Tea for Two) that I installed and worked fine (occasional slight delay in starting). I shut off the breaker to work on a vanity light installation. When I threw the breaker back on, the tub would start on its own. At first could shut it off. Then had to turn the breaker off to keep it from coming on spontaneously. The only way I can use it is to turn on the breaker and then wait for it to come on. It stops after about 20 minutes (normal I think). But then won't restart or restarts/tries to restart later, sometimes multiple times. I have to shut the breaker off, or it will keep going on or trying to go on. Runs fine when it gets started. I am thinking it is the starter button and/or a timer problem. Any thoughts?...
Estate washer problem won't spin or drain, agitate cycle grinds to halt2011-10-25 03:15:15model number taws800jq1
Fills with water, starts agitating but wihtin a few minutes, agitator starts to slow down somewhat grinding to a halt with a lot of clicking sounds and a hum in the dial selector/timer for a few seconds. I've detected a faint electrical odor. If I don't touch the dial to turn it off, after about 5 minutes, the agitator starts again, runs for a minute, starts to bog down with the same bit of grinding noise and clicking and then it stops.
It never makes it to the spin or drain cycle. And also, when I turn the dial to choose spin or rinse there is no response.
I've removed the pump and checked it for blockage and it looks ok.
Removed the coupler pieces and they are in tact.
Tested the lid switch for continuity and it's ok.
How do I check the timer switch.
Is it more likely the clutch assembly, transmission, or brake or agitator? I'd like to avoid taking apart these pieces since it seems more involved.
Is there other parts I haven't mentioned that need to be troubleshooted? Thanks. Mark...

Kenmore Heavy Duty 70 Series Dryer - No Heat2011-10-25 03:14:25I must apologize up front that I don't have the model number (yet) for this Kenmore dryer. I have a preliminary question and will definitely get that information if/when needed.
My dryer runs (and runs and runs and runs), but there is no heat and the timer does not advance.
I've read some FAQs at applianceaid.com and I'm unsure where to start. Should I start with the lint filter and venting to check for blockage, or, since there is NO heat whatsover, should I just dive right in checking the following suggested parts: '- - house fuse or breaker... - heating element ... - burnt wire ... - thermostats ... thermal fuse ( not all models )... - motor heat switch ... - timer ... - selector switch ... - burnt power cord/plug ...'
Thanks in advance!
Kenmore 110 series electric dryer2011-10-26 00:54:50My dryer shuts down every 10mins no heat no nothing but starts right back up when started. I just replaced the belt and pulley system on it last weekend thought that might fix the problem
Brand New Electric Dryer Won't Stay On2012-02-28 04:11:54Hello, and thank you for this site. I am really frusterated and stumped right now. I just bought a brand new, in the box, Amana Model number: NED4500VQ, electric dryer today. I brought it home, hooked it up, and it will start, but after running for about 5 seconds, it stops. Then, it won't start again for about 10 minutes. I checked to the cord for proper wiring, and it is right. I checked my fuses in my breaker box, they are fine. I don't know if it is a defect in the dryer itself, or if I am missing something completely. Can someone please help????
Thank you in advance....
Kenmore Series 80 Dryer2011-10-26 04:09:30I have a Kenmore 80 Series dryer (model 110.64832400). It runs, but won't heat up. Pretty sure it is the heating element, but I am not sure how to access it. Any input would be appreciated. Link to a video would be great. Thanks!...
Kenmore Electric Dryer 417.88042700 - no heat - turns off2011-10-26 04:08:53I have a 2 year old Kenmore dryer that will start but will shut off. It will work on the 'no heat-air dry' setting only. If we select one of the heat options it will turn on and tumble for a few minutes but then shut off. All of the lights on the right side of the panel blink. We can press cancel and start again and the same thing happens. We are not getting any heat but not sure if that is because the dryer is not running long enough to heat up or if it is turning off because something is wrong with the heating element.
All filters have been cleaned including the one outside. We have reset the breaker.
Not sure what else we can do without having to pay a fortune for someone to come look at it....
Washing Machine help needed2011-10-26 05:55:54I have a Kitchen aid clothes washer that fills and starts washing fine. After the first 10 seconds it stops for a period of time and when its ready it starts washing again. This goes on thru the complete washing cycle. Once it empties, it completes the rest of the cycle fine. What could the problem be? Any help would be appreciated!...
Diplomat Double Oven Humming2013-01-23 18:22:29Hi there
I have a Diplomat double oven - bottom is a normal fan assisted oven, top is more like a grill, element in the top.
Bottom oven is fine, top oven once its been on for about 3 or 4 minutes starts to hum and it gets louder and louder if u leave it
If i turn it off, the humming stops straight away, if i open the bottom door a bit, the humming stops as well
Any idea what this might be, have had the unit for about 8 years, so could be something wearing out
