97 2.2L P0300 code
OK, I'm new here, and am hoping someone out there can help me. I've got a 97 s-10 2.2L w/ 100,000 miles on it. It began misfiring on #4 this past summer. Took it to the dealer, they said head gasket. I said 'no thanks.' I took it to another shop, and the mechanic there got the same reading, but said that it probably needed a tune-up and as far as he could tell, it didn't need a new head gasket. Changed out the plugs, wires, O2 sensor, PCV, fuel filter, and it still wasn't running well. So, I finally took the plunge and installed a new head gasket. When we took everything apart, and sent the head to the shop, they cracked it and gave me a new one. Put everything back together, made sure EGR valve worked, etc... Started the vehicle back up and it began to misfire again. Hooked it up to the OBD scanner tonight, and got a P0300 code. Any suggestions as to what might be causing the random misfire in the engine? Also, noted that when driving on the highway, oil pressure is extremely low.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Want to keep this truck, but don't want to keep spending money on it.
View related: 96 Lumina P0300 code2012-02-20 03:04:58Hello,I have a 96 Lumina 3.1 and the engine light is starting to come on. It will start blinking for a few seconds and then stay on. It will go off in a couple of days but then will come back on. The car runs and idles great and it seems to only do this at highway speeds. The code is P0300. The car has 250,000 miles with new spark plugs and wires (AC Delco). Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks...
2001 s-10 4.3 miss and p03002012-02-17 13:04:42got a 2001 s-10 with the 4.3l had miss and changed cap, rotor, and plugs.ran fine for 2 months and now runs really rough, have to keep rpm at 1500 or high to keep truck running.checked codes and had a code for crank sensor, replaced that and code went away.test drove and had code p0300/multiple misfire.checked on here and alot of people say to use only ac/delco cap and rotor, i just got autozone ones.thanks in advance for the help...
p0300 code2012-03-06 09:35:32I have a 1999 chevy malibu and after changing plugs and plug wires (after doing manifold intake gasket change good thing i caught it in time no coolant got into the oil it was only a small leak on the battery side by the thermostat) i took it up to autozone code said p0300 could this be the fuel injectors? If so when my cousin was hooking up the fuel rails the o-ring from the tube that hooks up to the fuel rails fell off and we had to put another one on.i am thinking the o-ring is still in the fuel rail clogging things up is this possible and what can i do for this?...
1999 Blazer p0300 code2012-05-09 19:25:20I have a 1999 Blazer 4.3L that just recently started shifting hard going into first gear. We got an error code of p0300 (random cylindar misfire). So my husband checked all the plugs and then we restarted it and when it was idling it started to, what sounded like 'backfire'. Anyone ever have this problem before? Also any ideas?
Other info my husband thought would be helpful...The plugs we have are bosch platinum 2's. Was thinking we should go with AC Delco, or another OEM type plug. Cap & rotor, and wires are only about 8000 miles old.
Engine code P18152012-03-29 22:34:36My '03 Malibu is running rough. I hooked up a scan tool and pulled up two codes: P1815 and P0300. I found out P0300 is a cylinder misfire. I also found out P1815 has something to do with the transmission. If someone out there knows exactly what P1815 means and what might cause this code to come up please let me know. My car has 38,000 miles on it and is past the 36,000 mile warranty. My owner's manual states some parts are covered for more miles since I live in California so I am trying to build a case to convince the dealer to pay for this repair. Please help with any suggestions....
P0300 Code and Rough Idling2012-03-09 23:24:51I have a 1997 Malibu (with 152,000+ miles) and lately noticed that the car idles roughly which is especially notacible when at a complete stop. It feels like the car may stall but never does. Recently the check engine light came on and a code reading at Advanced Auto Parts revealed that it was a P0300 code which is random cylinder misfires. I did a secondary resistance test on the ignition coils and tested voltage to EGR valve and those tests were successful. Wires look good as well and both plugs/wires were replaced around 40,000-50,000 miles ago.
Any suggestions as to what can be causing the problem and/or other diagnostics I could perform?
Thank you in advance for any help!...
Code P03002013-01-31 21:14:36'02 TB w/ code P0300 / Random misfire. Started the other day when it was very damp out, FWIW. Feels like ur driving on rumble strips during acceleration. Rough idle also. It does not do this continually though as after a while (minute) it clears up and runs smooth for a while then runs rough & light will again for a while. I seafoamed it today since it been about 60k since last seafoam. I thought that might have helped untill I drove about 20 mile and it went rough again. I also cleaned the oil out of the cam sensor elect connector, since that caused rough running before, although it didn't throw that code. It seems to be very intermitant. '02 TB, 185k miles, orig plugs changed at 125k. Is it actually just going in & out of a limp-mode? Thoughts??? O2 since it's random ???
chevy 6.0L question.... P0300 code2012-02-21 14:46:122004 chevy 2500HD with the 6.0L gasser, auto trans, 4wd, 85,000 miles..... the check engine flashes at RPM's above 2500..... throws code P0300 only when flashing..... doesn't store it. the code says 'random multiple misfire' which means it's not cylinder specific which rules out the coils..... (truck has a coil for each cylinder) i have done a bunch of research about these trucks having intake manifold gasket problems..... i replaced that..... still does it... it has new plugs and wires also....
my main question is would a worn camshaft or weak/wore-out valvesprings (which i hear these motors are bad for also) cause misfire problems?? has anybody had this problem before?
tonight i noticed the light flashes when coasting too..... (neither accelerating or decelerating..... )
'01 Chevy Tahoe P0300 Multiple misfire code2012-02-16 18:05:01So everything was fine. I turned on the car and ran perfect. I forgot a CD at home. Turned off the engine and then when i went back i turned it on and the trucks idle was extremely rough.
I pushed the gas and the RPM wouldnt go up, pushed again and it slowly went up but it started shaking bad, then it slowly was dying untill it died.
Right before it died the engline light went off. I scanned it and it gave me a code of p0300.
I changed the plugs and wires. Some plugs were a little oily, maybe it was gas (unsure).
Coils are fine, fuel compression is normal.
Im really going insane with this Truck, it has given me nothing but problems.
What should i do? Please help me!...
2002 Malibu Code P0300 and P04202012-03-12 07:24:35I just purchased a 2002 Malibu at auction to help out a friend, but have run into some unexpected problems as I am not familure with these cars. When I picked up the car a drove it about a 100 yards to the car trailer. It seemed a little sluggish to me for a V6 and really seemed to not have much power. It seemed fine at Idle. It did have a an engine light on. Once a got the car home, I checked the codes.. P0300 (Random/Multiple Misfire) and P0420 (Catalyst efficiency below threshhold ) I cleared the codes and I have only gotten the P0300 code back in the little testing below that I have done thus far. I am hoping givin the below information below that someone might be able to point me a good direction before I have start dumping huge or needles funds into this car. Car is in over all great condtion though it does have 109K.
The basic symptoms of the car are:
At idle it seems to me the car sounds fine. When you rev the motor it usually is not able to hit the Rev Limiter.. wich I understand is at appox 4000 RPM. Basically you can mat the gas pedal to the floor and the car will not hit more the 3500 RPM and subsiquent tries in succession usualy result in hitting lower and lower RPMs. Doing the multiple succession of reving has resulted in a pending code of P0300 twice. When driving the vehicle, it seems to start out fine, but as you try to acclerate the motor seems to bog down starting around 5-10 MPH and continues to do so up to the attainable speeds of around 40MPH I was not able to go faster then that partialy because I dont think the car will and that I am only able to work with the car in a parking lot. I am not able to get it to throw a code agian while driving so far, but have done limited driving with it... only the testing I have done.
Along with the above testing and driving I had purchased 1 coil set.. I have systematicly swapped the new coil into each postion and have wound up with no change in the symptoms above with a test drive aroun......
Code P03002012-02-21 18:55:00Hello- My girlfriends daughters boyfriend has a 98 Lumina with the 3.1. Last night it stalled out on him. He got it restarted, but it runs like crap. Very bad idle, doesnt want to restart (have to push accelerator to floor to start it and keep it running). Stalls out, can hear pinging. I pulled the codes and it says P0300.
We didnt have much time today to look at it. But I know he got a tune up with new plugs and wires about 6 months ago.
Was wondering where we should start first.......
I'm going to test the coils, check for spark, recheck plugs and wires.
I'm thinking either the timing belt or possibly the crank shaft position sensor.
What do you guys suggest???? Any help will be appreciated!!!!
please help mechanic 97 2.2 p03002012-02-24 12:05:29I got a 97 cavaleir 2.2 p0300 random misfire. I've changed plugs, wires, fuel filter, coil packs, crank sensor and ign module as well as 2 leaky injectors with new ones, and I can still see the spark mising through my spark testers. Could the injectors that I bought be at fault? That wouldn't make the spark intermittent would it. I feel it is a spark problem as I can see the spark cutting out. When I have the testers on there normally they spark fine but you can see that it is intermittent in the cylinders. I am looking for what if anything would be causing this code 300. PCM?? I can't think of anything else to try. Please help this mechanic. Any common problems that anyone knows would be greatly appreciated. I also changed...
'95 Blazer with a P03002012-03-28 22:54:53Hello.
I just purchased a '95 with a 4.3L vortec engine which needed some work. I put in a new exhaust system from the cat back, put in an 02 sensor (fwd of the cat), put in new AC/Delco spark plugs and did front brakes/calipers. The old plugs seemed to look like there was a rich mixture being burned.
The vehicle has a loping idle and I took it to the Zone and read the code...it is P0300 random/multiple cylinder misfire detected (I had the code socket under the dash...does this mean that I have the OBDII?). I bought some of the Techron fuel injector cleaner and put that in this morning.
I did a search and have found some good suggestions which are to:
put in new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, air filter, pcv valve.
-check fuel pressure
So, in a nutshell...I should do all of these things prior to opening up the plenum and checking/replacing the fuel injector assembly?
Am I missing anything?
Thanks for any advice given....
P0300, P0171 and Vacuum Leaks2012-02-16 08:24:37Hey everybody,
I just replaced the lower intake gasket and upper intake plenum and gaskets on a 98' monte carlo with the 3800. Just a couple days ago it developed a rough running condition. I pulled up a code indicating the MAP sensor was bad as well as p0300 random misfire and p0171 lean bank 1 code.
I replaced the MAP sensor and that code went away. I pulled the MAF sensor and cleaner it. I pulled the EGR valve off and sprayed a little carb cleaner in there.
I also looked around for vacuum leaks. One showed up where the throttle body attached to the upper intake. The lean condition makes sense with the vacuum leak. The car ran fine for a couple weeks after the intake replacement before this rough idle appeared. After cleaning the MAF and spraying off the EGR, the roughness is only apparent at idle. Is there a reliable way to test the EGR valve with common tools? Also, could a vacuum leak cause a sudden change in the way the car is running?...
2002 s10 starts hard, runs hard2012-03-08 19:34:50My 2002 s10 with the 4.3l vortex motor with msd ing, aem intake, air raid throttle body spacer, electric fan, ported and polished throttle body, full exhaust, and power programmer, and accell power truck tune up kit, just started to run hard ( hesitation ). Today i just had the code p0300 show up. It has ran fine. I thought it might be the programmer so i reinstalled the factory program that didn't help. it takes a while to get it to start (some back fires through the intake) the it runs like sh*t for a while then will run fine. The code p0300 is random/multiple misfires. Has any body had this happen to them???
the truck has 89000 miles
5 speed with hurst shift kit
Also it only does it after it has been sitting for a couple of days ( i work in the gulf of mexico offshore so the truck gets left at the dock).
96 lumina random misfire after repair2012-02-16 16:15:21Had to replace lower intake on lumina reinstalled according to specs pushrods in order also new plugs and wires, when started car rough idle and random missfire code p0300 came up cant figure out what went wrong???...
PCM reported a random misfire...2012-02-24 19:55:04This is the root cause of a P0300 (Random Misfire) error code on a Chevy 207 V-6:
They drove it in that way. A previous mechanic changed the #5 injector thinking that was a problem. I thought you people might get a kick out of that one. The #4 exhaust rocker was the same way (on the other bank)....
all cylinders misfiring only a p0300 code !!help me!!2012-03-26 16:36:01Changed plugs, cap, coil, wires, rotor button, air filter, fuel filter, tps sensor, check fuel pressure50-55and holds, and I have no clue what to do next. Does anyone have any advice? It would be much appreciated...
P0300 Trouble code and SES light2012-03-01 20:05:16Hey guys, I did a search on the TC that I am throwing, and didn't find anything that was JUST a P0300.
'99 Blazer LS 4.3L 4X4, 4 door, 125K ish.
Here are the symptoms -driving into work today, up a slight hill I noticed hesitation and sputtering - did't act like it was going to die - just sputtering and bucking a little.turned around - called the boss, 'not showin' up today, nah nah' - drove to Advanced and got the code scanned - P0300Picked up some new AC Delco Plats and I will be changing them outI recently did a tune up - about 20K or so ago - and replaced plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter. Plugs were Bosch Plats, because I didn't know about the problems with them at the time - thus the purchase of AC's today ($6 each!!!)
Did a coolant flush 4K ago.
Cleaned MAF when I got home, just to see if it would help, not much.
Oil is clean and recently replaced, no signs of coudiness or milkiness.
My question is, in your knowledgable opinions (much love for this group) does this sound like a plug problem, or should I start expecting something more??? Possibly beginnings of fuel pump problems (I would have expected it just to die)? EGR clogged or blocked - is it cleanable in the '99s?
Help me please!!!...
Random Cylinder Misfire...2012-03-15 06:35:32My truck has been periodically missing out - but then seemed to go away. I kept driving it waiting for a Check Engine light to help my diagnostics. Well it came on today with a P0300 (Cylinder Misfire Detected - Random) code. I recently changed plugs, wires, cap and rotor. What is next?...
